Default Down to three choices...

I'm between the BBK K&N and S&B intake kits for my 97 with a 4.6. The K&N is more expensive by about $35 but that's a non-issue. I'm mostly wondering if one is clearly superior or if they're all more or less identical in terms of quality. also, will a cold air kit get caked up with mud when i go out and play?

I don't know anything about the BBK or S&B I have the K&N and am very happy with it. It added twice the rwhp than they advertised for my truck.

Default K&N

I highly recommend the K&N. Just like the others, I'm very happy with mine.

K&N has been doing it longer than any of the other ones too.

If you go onto summit racings web site they have a summit cold air kit. It is the K&N kit only its about 30 dollars cheaper. That is the one I bought and it even says K&N on the intake tube and filter.

thanks for the replies guys! after some deliberation and comparing the kits i decided on the S&B. i felt like their instruction sheet was the easiest to follow and when i looked through their website i decided it was what i wanted. hopefully the kit comes either monday or tuesday so i can get it installed before i leave for spring break. i'll let you know how the install goes!

the instructions and their tech info on their website was a big seller for me. i work at a parts store here in ames and had a chance to order the K&N in to look at it. the s&B saved me about 40 bucks and i feel like i'm getting a product that's at LEAST as well researched as the K&N.

That kills me, a person comes on asks for advice and all the advice is the same, to the point that the summit kit is a K&N kit.. then they go with something else.. Why even ask for advice at all???
