I just tried to start my truck, 01 5.4, and it shook a couple of times and cut out. When I turn the key to try to start it now, it cranks for just a split second, then nothing. I can probably get a vid of it in a little while.
Anyone have any idea what just happened?

Your starter could of gone bad due to the fact that it may be faulty and it was trying to start the car while it was running, have you heard any loud clicking noises while running or maybe your alternator when out a while ago and your battery is just starting to go.

I'm hoping it's just the battery or starter. The shake is what has me concerned. I also have the occasional "dead battery" click when trying to start it, so that could be it. I'll try to jump it in a little bit and see what happens.

I've had 80s model Fords where I did that. These are the same way?

A month ago the a/c compressor locked up. That damaged the clutch bearing, and today the pulley locked up. That's what the problem seems to be. Thanks for the replies though!
