No also most won't show immediately either. You have to go through a drive cycle.

An intermittent soft code will not always set a CEL. Hard codes, are set and stored.

Laugh all you want, but that is what the nomenclature from Ford is. I was a Ford tech for some time, and that is how we had to do our warranty description.

Hard codes are codes that set with the computer and are retreivable with a diagnostic tool. Soft codes are the phantoms that do not set a code, but are still persistant. These are the ones that people experience, yet the tech can not find or duplicate. They can not be read by a reader. The CEL may flash or come on and go out, but the code that doesn't set a code, is declared a soft code. Simply as that.

I stand corrected... - not laughing.

I was thinking something 'pending' perhaps.

Never liked the misfire program, just throwing that out there.
