Default Chip in key

Is there any way to get rid of the chip detector thing

So I don't have to pay 120$ for another key

if you already have 2 keys then you can buy a new key from howardkeys.com and program it yourself, it would be wayy cheaper this way

The best way is to buy a new transponder ring and plug it in and leave the one on the switch so it still looks normal, insert your key in a piece of foam that will fit inside the transponder ring, wire tie it together and hide the key and transponder ring under the dash. First get several plain, cheap, non-PATS keys cut and they will work in the ignition. It's cheaper and easier than getting the awful bypass kits, but will still probably run you $50 for the transponder if you don't want to use the one on there and like $10 for regular keys.

Not really. You might be able to swap pcms with a non-pats truck.

i bought an all in one key on ebay for $40, had it cut and programmed it myself. Your solution is easy, dont make it difficult on yourself.

That's fine if he has 2 keys. If he only has one he has to get one cut and both programmed at the dealer.

he didnt specify that. im going on what little information is available. if he swapped to a non PATS EEC-V it could end up costing more money if he doesnt look in the right places or bother to reference car-part.com

Yeah that was my second option. I took the little information we got and assumed he's only getting a new key because he lost one. I've done like my first post said and put keys in transponders and used non chip keys before, it works pretty well, but hopefully it'll be like you said and he can just get a key and program a spare himself. Less work.
