Default Brake Concern

Howdy.

Friday I got the double brake light on my dash. Went and refilled the master cylinder with fliud.

Noticed on Saturday that there was a leak. Popped the hood and it looks to be a leak between the master cylinder and the brake booster.

Is this something I can fix myself or should I take it up to the shop?

Thanks in advance.

Not to sound like a douche, but I think if you are asking this question, you better let someone else do it for you.

Yup, It's kinda hard to judge someone's capabilities with so little to go on. He does seem to know the correct names of the parts, so that's a plus. At least he didn't call them the black roundy thing and the white thingy with a cap.

We cant judge your capabilities buddy. If you feel like it could turn into a struggle fest for you to fix it right then let a professional do it.

You are asking about brakes here. How much do you trust yourself? Brakes aren't difficult but they're also not forgiving.

I apologize for the brief description and lack of explanation.

I have done some work in the engine and more so was asking what is needed to fix it.

Is it just bleeding the brakes and replacing a gasket or could it be something more?

Good.... yeah, in your initial post it didn't sound like you were confident in doing the job. I didn't want to sound like a d-bag, but the brakes are one thing you don't want to mess up. Like River said, they are easy - but not forgiving if you don't pay attention.

From your vague description, could be a bad deactivation switch leak. There's no fluid flow between master and booster. If it's the switch, don't leave anything important in the truck while parked...could go up in flames. Take it in for recall if you still can.
