Default Axles.

hey everybody, i was wondering if i i could put a ford 9.8 axle under my truck instead of the 8.8 that is in there now.

Do you mean the 9.75? If so it can be done just make sure you match up the gear ratios with the front diff if your 4x4

sorry i should have specified and yes i mean the 9.75
and my truck is a 4.6l 2wd... i assume it would work but i want to make sure.

Ya it will work just make sure that you have the axle you have now has the same brakes as the one you install gears I guess are up to you. If want more power out of it get one with 3.73s or if you like where you are get one with 3.55s

yeah, i already want to regear when i get a level kit with 33s and i figured i might as well upgrade the whole axle and get one from a fx4 model. probably easy'er

Yea that would work just check the axle tag and make sure its a b6 axle cuz its 3.73 gears with a limited slip diff.

Yea you can. Thats the one you would probably want. Because it will spin both tires when one breaks traction. So it will help if you go offroading or if you like to do burnouts. Just check the tag on the axle to see if it says b6. Atleast i think thats the code ill check mine in the morning for you.
