That did go fast. Lol

When setting it up, to be safe, turn the Punch EQ to zero, turn the frequency down to 50, leave the phase at 0 for now, and leave the gain at 1. Using the low level inputs (RCA's) with 4v coming from your head unit and 4 volts being the lowest amplification available you wont have any clipping at wide open volume. Now your head unit will introduce distortion to the system around 2 or 3 notches from max and that is where I would tune to, but we can talk about that when you get there.

So talk to me like im stupid.

On the amp I have:
1. Punch EQ (min-max)
2. FREQ Hz (50 -250)
3. Phase (0 or 180)
4. Gain (1-11)

On the HU I have:
1. Sub1 (normal/off) <-- just an on/off feature I didnt know about when I installed my actual on/off switch lol
2. Sub2 (50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 125Hz and then each frequency has the option to +6 or -24)
3. HPF (50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 125Hz)
4. Loudness (off, low, mid, high)
5. Bass booster (1-6)
5. EQ (100Hz, 315Hz, 1.25k, 3.15kHz, 8kHz and each one has a +/- 6)

So if you have some time to kill and want to help me, Id appreciate it but I know its a lot of settings lol. I can always fiddle with it and like I said, it sounds fine... Im just sure it can be properly tuned and sound even better.

Edit* just saw your post, Ive had my post open for a while. Yeah everything was at minimum except the gain when I unboxed it. Gain was at 3. Ill turn it down to 1 until the tuning gets underway.

Lol I wont have to talk down to you man. This will be pretty straight forward.

Ok so we want the EQ flat with no loudness or boost. Set the high pass for your doors at 125 khz and the sub 2 (low pass) at 50 hz. Go to youtube and find a 40 hz test track. Once the tract is playing turn it up to 37/40 on your head unit (about 95% volume).

I'm hoping with the filters set this way that little to no sound will be coming from any door speaker.

Now begin to adjust the gain on the amp up until it stops sounding smooth and undistorted.

Now you have a tuned sub. (As close as you can get it by ear anyways) and make sure during all of this that your remote bass **** is turned all the way up.

Now set up everything the way you want it and you should be good. I dont run any bass boost because it introduces clipping at higher volumes.

So EQ was set to flat. HPF was set to 125 Sub2 was set to 50, everything on amp was turned down to lowest setting. Plugged in amp remote and turned it up to max

Ran the 40Hz test tone, got a little bit of noise but not much. Started turning up the gain. Got to like 7 and it was bumping pretty hard... it was still smooth and not distorted tho. Didn't want to blow anything so I stopped at 7. And then adjusted my EQ settings.

Is it safe to go past 7? Like I said it was still smooth and clean. I'd hate to blow the sub lol.

Personally, I set my crossover at 60 to 63hz, crank the amp to max gain, then use the stereo to control the output. I have all 3 of mine set up like that, and every other system I've had. My Pioneer has some other crap on it that I personally find unnecessary like a bass boost at 50hz, The slope, I don't remember what I put it on.

Just an FYI, I tune everything listening to Tom Sawyer and Limelight by Rush. Those 2 songs have got everything I need to tune a stereo. Lows, mids, highs.

2100, you can turn it up past seven and adjust accordingly with the remote by song and probably be safe but pay attention to any distortion. That may be introduced through loudness or eq settings on your head unit.

So I cranked up the gain and all is well. I think it's tuned in pretty good. It definitely hits a lot better!

Whitey- so you would turn the Sub2 to 63Hz instead of 50?
