Default Which Alternator is the correct replacement?

Mine still works, but it is original off the factory in 1999 and has lived a beautiful life of 20 years and 223k miles. I would rather replace it soon before it dies and leaves me on the road. I am likely going to replace the tensioner pulley and possibly the belt as well. The belt only has 15k but it is NAPA brand and not motorcraft.

Rock Auto offers two models of Alternators.

MOTORCRAFT NGL7790N
  • 95 Amps
  • W/O AC

Or

MOTORCRAFT NGL7791N
  • 110 Amps
  • With AC
Which one would be correct?

Buy rebuild kit and replace bearings/brushes/regulator in yours. Much cheaper than a new or reman one, maybe
$ 40- 50. Since yours hasnt failed, you can plan it one saturday.

If you buy another, do you have AC or not? That will answer your question.

I honestly thought it couldn't be that simple.

I didn't realize they even made these trucks with no AC... lol.

This us for 130 amp.

110 amp? You mean 130? Either way, I'd go 130.

The ones on rock auto are listed at 95 and 110 but it could be a misprint, I'm not sure.

What the hell......

I've always known it to be fact the the 142mm (2 hole) alternators were 130 amp, and the 129mm (4 hole) were 95 amp. Not too sure where this 110 got into the mix at.... I'd have no problem rocking that Denso reman 130 amp, personally. Denso is good stuff.

Vistreon was doing Ford's reman's before, I know they do the diesel starters still and other remans for Ford still. That said, I was on eBay and bought a 130 amp alt, last summer, reman'ed by Vistreon for 39.00 with free shipping. This summer I picked up a Vistreon starter for Red by winning a bid for 30.00. i paid 15 for shipping. I won't use a Duralast or O'Reilly's reman. I don't like taking them off and on like a zipper to keep a good one. JMO of course.

So what I'm saying is watch the eBay auctions, not the buy it now. Especially if you don't need it immediately. I saved a load of money over the spring/summer getting all the new MC parts for Red before the new engine, only to find the engine came with all-new MC parts already installed..

I saved also on the pulleys/tensioner for the belts. Everything on the engine, except the EGR and DPFE are new. I finally bought a new MC dpfe yesterday for 19. plus 8.00 for shipping. Still looking for the EGR valve though, lol.
