Which Alternator is the correct replacement?
Ive bought several NEW parts store alt. For vehicles.
autozone and oreilly.
Never had a problem. with a new one. Lasted at least as long as oem.
Dont get hung up on oem alternator, not that great. . Do avoid parts store remans, imo. Had plenty of problems in the past with those.
An an exception was an Isuzu that computer was very sensitive to the voltage. Only the OEM original new $400 alternator work properly with the car's computer.

well, since every oem that was replaced with aftermarket also failed, pretty hard to say oem is much better.
Out of every vehicle ive owned, 8/10 original equipment alternators failed. Most between 100-200k. Honda failed at 235k.
The two that didnt were nissan, probably because miles were low. One is 99k that i still have, other was about 140k when daughter totaled it.
On average, id say life of oem alternator is 130-175 k.
Ive got similar on any new alternator ive bought, at lest none failed while ive had vehicle yet. 110k on a reman on my z71 by time i sold the truck. Was probably lucky there.
The honda was replaced by a shop with reman while wife was driving out of town, it has about 50k on it now. I was out of contact in mtns at time or i would have told her not to get reman, but she did cheapest thing. As was, it was unexpected $400 expense for batt and alt., She had no choice. She wasnt going to go $600

This truck I have now is the only truck I've ever driven that has never broken down or failed to start. It has things wrong with it if you look for them, but it always gets you where you need to go. That alternator is factory at 223k. lol.
All in all though, that sport trac was the most unreliable vehicle I've ever owned. It has 10x more problems than my truck now and was a 2006.
