Default 97 e4od only reverse

Let me start at the beginning. So last week I was out running some errands and when I put the truck in reverse it didnt engage. If i rev. it up to around 1500 to 2000 rpms it would start to move like normal but felt like the parking brake was on. So I finish what I was doing and drove it home. The next morning I went out started the truck and let it run for about 5 mins. like normal before I left. I jumped in and put it in reverse like normal and it back up perfect. Pulled in to the street only to realize that All the forward gears weren't working. When I put it in drive it goes in and will roll about 5 mph but as soon as you hit the gas the engine just revs. I have know idea what is going on here. I changed the mlps because it tested bad. Pulled the pan and no shavings just the normal fine metal on the magnetic. The transmission has about 12000 miles on it now and I just dont understand what's going on. No codes have popped up let. And it wasnt low on fluid.

It's a mechanical failure inside the trans. You won't get any codes because it's not electronic.

Some things could be a broken sun shell, stripped splines, broken shaft....

And yes, there are upgrades for those pieces. Most shops just reuse your old parts like that, so it has a lot more than 12,000 miles on it.

Was the trans rebuilt or did you buy a remanufactured one?

Like white said, the rebuilt only replaced failed and severely worn parts. So whatever this issue may be may not have been replaced during the rebuild

I hope you have a warranty on the rebuilt? Take it back to the place that did the work. That's my suggestion.

If it winds up needing to be taken apart again, I strongly suggest getting hardened parts put in there. You can make that trans bullet proof... lots of upgrades available because it also came behind a diesel motor.
