Unless you have a grinding noise coming from or play in them you don't need to. The disconnect in the axle acts as locking hubs so your truck does not have them. You have only a hub assembly which is in fact your front wheel bearings.

And if you do decide to change them do NOT buy cheap ones. Get a set of Timken or motorcraft hubs only. They're more costly, but will last much longer.

can I switch to manual locking hubs for a set like these? Jc Whitney says they will work I haven't heard of this brand though

You don't have manual locking hubs. Don't switch anything. Install the cable you bought and that's all you need. When you want to go into 4x4 shift your transfer case into 4 hi & then pull the **** on the end of your newly installed cable. That's all you have to do.
