Of course. Good old Ford dealers. Glad they gave me the wrong one.

I had this problem this morning, started the truck and switched it to 4wd hi nothing, tried 4wd low also, tried many times it wouldn't do anything, no click no light nothing, almost got left in the woods, but was able to rock the truck out. After reading some of the replies here I went out and pulled the battrey looking for broken vacuum lines. I also pulled the top off of the fuse box on the drivers side, there are two small square electronic plug ins and two blade fuses, one has a 5 on top the other no markings. I pulled the one with no markings, then replaced it, I did nothing at all, replaced the battrey, turned on the key and everything works as it should, 4x4 in hi and low cycles as it should, I really didn't do anything, I'm at a loss on this one, any suggestions?

You sure it's the wrong part# Nosaj? I checked with the guys before and this is what we found..

You might find the correct GEM in an Expedition or Navigator since you have all the options for that year basically. You should do well in a wrecking yard where you get to pull your own parts. Even if you didn't find an exact # match, since more than one has updated to a single new part number, if the truck or SUV had the options you have, that module would most likely work without problems. Any that have less options, probably won't. That help?

I had a vacumm line come disconnected on my old 01' super crew 150. Changed everything under the sun for the 4wd and come to find out there was a vacumm line that wiggled lose and a mud diver made a nest in it. Cleaned it out, put it back together, put the truck on the rack and the front tires were spinning! Spent probally $400-$500 and it was a vacumm fitting the whole time!

Yeah - ive had that happen too, but your dash still indicated 4x4 was engaged didnt it? The vacuum line was just for the front diff engagement.

Yeah, it went to 4x4 on the light. But never clicked or actually engaged to 4x4.

Im surprised it never clicked, the clicking are the relays in the GEM sending power to the T-case and solenoid for the vacuum routing
