Yeah that has got to go, take it out and get the proper plug from Ford. I have the same engine but it's dark and wet outside so I wont go look for you.

I suppose that was one wasted oil change as the level is below min on the stick. Either way could have been worse and seized up the engine instead of draining out overnight.

Just got back from the autoparts store and bought a new plug & motorcraft 5 20 semi synthetic. As soon as it stops raining I'll get on trying to figure out whether the person that did this lost the original plug or stripped it out.....Fun times....

Can you see how that one was hard to explain? lol You just don't expect shtuff like that......

Yea I agree, bite the bullet and replace the oil pan.
You don't need that drama every time you change the oil, and you don't need to be worrying if the oil is gone and you are going to blow the engine.
About $70.00 on line plus a new plug.
Do it right, life is short.

I just got under there with a flashlight and unscrewed the plug, got to the end of the treading and it just hangs there like there is an anchoring inside of the oil pan, what I'm imagining is a cable with a T inside the plug hole. I tried getting pliers to pull it out but it wasn't budging.

I'll be looking for a new pan I suppose.

If you change the oil pan, take a look at Fumoto valves. Look it up on Google. I have on ony 09 and love it. No wrench needed. Good luck!!!

New pan time for sure, especially after reading (paraphrased) "ideal for when the threads are stripped and you still need to hold oil"

The plug is an interesting idea. The flaw as I see it is, if the wanna-bee mechanic stripped the threads in the pan or even rounded the hex head off, what chance does the Bozo have with that little contraption. Factory plug is a 13mm box end wrench, I just purchased oil and filter for mine, its going to be my 44th oil change on this truck. 220,000 miles, and the same plug. But thats just me.

Given that my truck was a fleet truck I'm sure it was brought to the most available jiffy lube around and the oil changes were done by a 16 y/o kid. But, I'm surprised this engine is still running so good at 205k. I had an 01 silverado a few years back that was in it's low 100's and the manual trans was making some aweful noises when the truck was in motion, no matter if it was neutral or in gear. Needless to say, that was my last silverado.
