Default why is the 5.4 underpowered

I'm just curious what you all think. I have a 05 5.4 scab. I think it's got more then enough power personally but what does everyone think. I keep hearing people say it's a dog or underpowered in the truck?

This is the first time I've ever heard of the 5.4 being underpowered. I heard it allot about the 4.6 though.

I wouldn't exactly say that about a 5.4 though

My 5.4 seems a bit sluggish. But that may be due to needing new plugs, CAI and a tune.

I wouldn't say it's underpowered. However, I have noticed a quirk in mine, and a few others that I've driven. On light throttle, they have plenty of power so that barely touching the pedal is sometimes too much. Medium throttle is just so-so. It seems like at medium throttle, you should be getting more out of it. But then at full throttle, they get all the power back. It's odd.

Also I haven't had an issue with heavy loads or normal towing. The trucks I've driven have handled the weight very well.

If you don't have a tuner on your truck, that will clean all of that up. Drive by wire is a little quirky, but a good programmer and tune will take care of it.

Yea, I know. I'm using getting a tuner as a reward for myself if I get some other projects around the house. I need motivation because I really don't want to tear down a 40 year old shower that has too much old fashion concrete backing behind the tile (it's 1 1/2 inches thick)!
