How much is "a lot of weight"? You need to be sure that your truck model is rated to tow the amount of weight you're wanting to haul.

I'm pretty sure these values are in your owners manual, as well as the decal located in your drivers door jamb.

You may even have a factory "additional" trans cooler in your truck, if you have the heavy duty towing package. You did not specify your engine size or model (you said 2007 F150) you have.

I bought my trans cooler from Pep Boys; it was a B&M kit. Came with the cooler, clamps, and hose, all for under $35.00

If you need airbags to support the weight of the hitch of what your towing, your towing too much. I have a 07 150 with no suspension mods and i tow a 26 ft RV. The trailer weighs 6000 lbs and the hitch weight is 2000lbs (i weighed it at a scale). Just hitching the trailer onto my truck causes it to only go down like two inches, and the truck sits level (its my own cheap no fuss leveling kit lol). I have a weight distributing hitch, but i only set the bars so that the truck doesn't get all bouncy when going over rough road.

do I read it correctly that you have 2000 lbs tongue weight? I thought the rating for a class 3 hitch was like 500 lbs. you really have 4 times the rated tongue weight?

2000lbs of tongue weight is a lot. Way more than is safe without a weight distribution kit. What type of rv are you towing? 1/3 of the rated trailer weight on the tongue is not good. A typical trailer/camper has a weight rating of 10% total weight at tongue. 6000lb trailer should have around 600lb tongue weight.

I tow a regular bumper pull travel trailer. Its probable that the scale i used at the local dairy gave me a strange reading because i just had the tongue jack sitting on the very end of the scale. I never thought to question it, although now i do. With the probable wrong weight aside, i use a regular bent spring bar distributing hitch. I also just went and looked at the receiver and the tag on it shows that i can tow 9900lbs weight distributed and have a tongue weight of 990lbs.

Maybe next time ill do better research before i begin to talk like i know too much about something. I found the ancient owners manual, but it doesn't say any specifics about this trailer. Ill have to try and find a better way to weigh the hitch for future knowledge. The book did say that typical weights are 15% of the total vehicle weight, meaning that my trailer is around 900lb hitch weight. If this logic and math apply to my trailer, i can tow it with the distribution hitch, although now I'm curious to find out the exact weight.

A good mod would be trading it in on a stroked 350.

I still can't figure out why some people beat the ever loving **** out a half ton by trying to do stuff like this...

I think the OP needs to clarify what he thinks is a lot of weight... Some might think that 2 motorcycles on a 10 foot trailer is a lot of weight...
