This last Monday I totaled my 04 FX4. I hit black ice at 70ish mph, and slid off the road sideways into the median on I70 East by Zanesville, Ohio. My truck rolled seven to nine times according to witnesses. Several rotations while airborne before coming back down. I ended upside down half on the median and half on the Westbound lane. Litter from my truck was on both sides of the highway. My shoe came off my left foot and was on the opposing shoulder. I came to while upside down and crawled out of the passenger window. In the end, I just had a decent concussion, scrapes, and bruises. I've been sore for the week, but that has been it. Ford tough...I no kidding owe my life to the toughness of that truck! I can't believe she's gone...still looked like new, and no major issues. Once I'm ready to drive again...gotta look for another Ford!

Beer, Boats, and Trucks.
Wow, crazy! Glad you are okay! One of the many reasons why I chose Ford, I wanted to choose safety.
Looking forward to seeing your next Ford!

No airbags deployed. Everything was sideways during the crash. For the record, the road was just a little wet. There was no indication there would be ice. The temp was in the 40s! Two others slid off the road about the same time I did, but nothing bad. After I was in the ER, they had multiple traumas come in due to wrecks. I was just the lucky first one to get in! Luckily I don't remember most of it! That was my first wreck...not bad being 42 years old!

What are you getting at? The fact that they have an aluminum body?
The new F150 has a great safety rating despite being aluminum. There is a lot of internet crap going around that the new bodies make them less safe somehow but it is simple not true. The structure under the skin is what keeps the truck together, not the outer aluminum skin.
In fact the IIHS gave the new aluminum body F150 a "Top Safety Pick" rating.
OP
Glad you are OK. Try to keep the new one rubber side down
