Default Tailgate squeak

I've noticed a terribly annoying squeak coming from the drivers side rear of my truck the past couple weeks. It did not have any particular pattern so I knew it wasn't suspension or driveline related. Last night it was particularly bad...so after I got home I bounced the rear end up and down and it made the noise. After opening and closing the tailgate and bouncing again, it went away. So obviously I have some rubbing somewhere in the tailgate area.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not quite sure what to do to fix it.

Very common problem. Just take some grease and put it on both sides of the tailgate where it latches onto the truck

I hear a squeak when my back window is open. Did you hear it more when that was open?

Do you mean at the actual latch that keeps it closed or the two pivot points on each side at the bottom?

I don't ever open my back window but I could definitely hear it with my door windows open.

Dealt with that for years, but i finally cracked down on it.

It is the tailgate, i used lithium grease and it is weather proof.

Grease everything. The latches need lubrication anyways.
