Default Straight piped

Has anyone had expirence just removing the muffler and replacing it with pipe to straight pipe it? How loud is it? I can't decide between straight piped or a glasspack. Also this would be SI/SO

Yes. Didn't take me longer than five minutes to realize it sounded like complete sh**. Loud, but AWFUL. Loud != good.

I have a straight pipe. I cut the original muffler/pipe where the two catalytic converter pipes go from two to one. Then just welded in a 3" straight pipe all the way out behind the back tire (like the original)... Its really loud when I first start it up in the morning, but after about 5-10 seconds it's not as loud. I like it and I think it sounds good and get complements on it all the time, but sometimes it is a little too loud. But its all personal preference

I have SIDO and last fall when my generic turbo muffler rusted out, I just clamped in a Y-pipe.
I noticed no difference in sound.

How much of a difference will a glasspack make? I did have my 2001 ford f150 straight piped and it didn't seem to awfully loud.

I had SIDO straight pipes on my old 2000 f150 lariet with the 4.6L, but my single straight pipe on my current 06 Fx4 with the 5.4L is much louder

Ya my old truck was a 2001 f150 5.4l I had ypipe to 2.5" duals. The other option I have is a 28" cherry bomb glass pack.
