In the past 3 months, I've found 3 dead squirrels lying in my back yard. Outwardly, they look perfectly healthy - nice and fat, full costs, no apparent injuries. Wife thinks they're being poisoned. Strange...

Its possible that someone has laid out some rat poison (warfarin), or has some ethylene glycol (engine coolant) laying around.

I rarely see a squirrel in my yard. I have 2 trees in my yard. One behind the garage and one in the backyard. It's been trimmed back recently. I'm thinking about cutting down the one behind the garage. It's a walnut tree and walnuts hit my garage in the fall

talked with next door neighbor as I hadn't seen her new (2019) F150 in awhile...she told me strangest thing...driving truck and it started violently shaking...took it to the dealerships and so far she has over $2K in damage from squirrels...I don't know if they got her's first or mine or even if it was the same time frame as she reported the issue on about the same date I noticed it in mine...

rodents....

Bill

My german shepherd comes off the deck like a tornado and had sadly dispatched entire families of wildlife. She even caught a chipmonk and those things are fast. Most things go left when they should have gone right. I don't like her getting those things but Im tired of yelling no no no at 6 am in my boxers, when she doesn't get them they come back the next day to give her another try

talked with next door neighbor yesterday and learned bill came to $3K for her squirrel damage under hood...and she started up the truck when the dash lights came on yesterday...some new wiring chewed through...

neighbor asked what I had done to keep the squirrels from attacking my truck again parked nearby and all I could add was that the baggie of moth ***** may be working as it does not seem that I've had any further squirrel infestation since wire tying the moth *****...

hopefully I have no further issue with these aggressive rodents...

Geeze, that IS a bummer. I'm pretty sure Ford wont cover THAT under warranty. Hopefully her homeowners insurance covers it.

Default Not necessarily

It's not poaching to shoot any animal (game or domestic), if you are protecting your livestock, family, or property. Better to trap and relocate or use deterrents. Do not condone poisoning at all, not even field rats/mice(slices of irish spring work just fine with those). But if those don't work you are within your legal rights to protect using whatever method works. Within reason... obviously not within a city limit. I have been in the situation with neighbors dogs and with wildlife including protected. Just had to call game and wildlife to relocate. They are pretty good at following through.

There is also something called Wanton Waste! When you intentionally kill an animal and leave it to rot. You have just committed Wanton Waste.
Both killing a game animal out of season and Wanton Waste are both offenses that the Dept of Fish and Game will fine you for. In some cases, even confiscate your weapon and revoke your right to possess a hunting license. The fact that you have this attitude towards wildlife tells me that you don’t know the laws so you most likely DONT even have a license to hunt.
Intentionally killing a game animal out of season, killing a game animal without a valid hunting license are both considered POACHING!
As far as poisoning game, domestic pets, shooting the neighborhood pets, etc., YOU OPENED THE DOOR TO THE RIDICULE!

Oh, for anyone curious, I took 42 squirrels out of the backyard this year with a Squirrelinator.

Raw peanuts make a great bait. Sprinkle a few outside the door, and put a pile inside the main trap.
