Default squeaking on cold start

Anyone have this problem before? When its cold up here in Illinois my truck squeaks when I start her up. Only last couple minutes til warm. And sounds like its the serpentine belt? Not to sure, just wondering if this is common. Thanks.

I live down here in Oklahoma and whenever we get colder then normal mornings my 04 F150 does the same thing your talking about, I've changed both pulleys on the motor and picked up a serpentine belt also and still didn't change that darn squeak...

Well I feel a lil better that it seems to be a common thing.... But it does drive me nuts tho lol. Thinking my truck is gonna fall a part. Maybe its just a sign to buy a remote start so it can be warmed up before I go outside xD lol but if anyone knows a fix, let me know!

There is a write up about foam by the hood that squeaks in the cold.

Prob needs a belt or belt/tensioner. Mine did the same thing and I replaced both and solved it.

Cold causes most items to shrink; heat will expand. So, your newfounded cold weather has aggrivated something under the hood until it warms up. Could be many; belt, belt tensioner, alternator bearing, etc.

An old trick my dad tought me was to take a bar of soap, and slide it on the onside of the belt. Wait until it's a cold morning. Start the truck. If the squeak goes away, its the belt. If it continues, keep looking.

If the belt has cracks in its backside, its due for replacement anyhow.
