so over this problem!!!
Some of you may have heard me bitch about this before. (05 reg 4.2 manual) when I shift at 2k the truck shudders if I push the gas to hard, I have to really baby it up to speed unless I shift at 3-3200k rpm. So I was like ok I need to shift higher with this 305/70/17 tires and the 3:31 gears in this model. All was well but fifth was pretty useless unless I was going 75+ and over 2k rpm, unless I really really babied the gas I could coast at 65 with no shudder. And this shudder problem, in any gear, is far worse in wet conditions. I was just driving in the rain, had it in 3rd at about 2800 rpm put the pedal slowly to the floor, all the way down....NO ACCELERATION...felt like my tires were spinning, now I know these Terras are not the best in the rain but my truck is almost immobile. I changed the fuel filter and it helped slightly, before that change I couldn't use 5th at all, not even baby-ing it. Everything on the truck is original I understand I need to do spark plugs, but this problem sounds nothing to do with plugs....to me anyway, but hey I just had a ton of multiple run on sentences and I did my first oil change a few miles back. So what do I really know? Sorry for the rant but its so frustrating to not be able to drive on the highway, the truck is okay in the city but going over 45-50 this problem gets bad, and if its raining forget about it. Trying to give all the details. Help me please!!!!

My cousin has an 01 4.2 manual with 28" tires and his 4.2 was so gutless on the highway until he changed the plugs then it woke everything up again. he went with Bosch 4 prong.

You have the smallest and weakest engine in the lineup with a tall gear ratio, and you have 35" tires. You desperately need to either go to a smaller diameter tire or regear. The shudder is the driveline screaming for mercy as you try to accellerate with a setup that is just unsuited for that truck.

This never happened when I had my 33x12.50x17 STT's until 4-5 months in, I thought they were bc the tires were bald and slipping, so I just bought these nittos but its still the same. I hope the plugs help Ik I'm pushing it but I mean I see idiots in Florida with crown vics, v6 2.7l chargers and everything else on 26,28, even 30" rims and they have tiny engines lol.
