A easy way to fix that will last a while till you can get it replaced or just to ment it for the time you have it, is to clean it out and make sure you shave the exes rust and part of rust that it has eating through and fill it with some bondo and Harding agent then let it sit to dry then put a moisture gard either way you want to do it on the back behind the bondo or on top(front) but it will seal the area for quiet a period of time then just buy some spray paint that matches you body color and paint over it and your good, only costed around 70 Canadian with paint
Thought the body would last longer than a set of tires. Completely perforated cab corners on a truck still "certified pre owned" under 90,000 miles. Obviously a problems with water entering through third brake light at top of cab. Called Ford and they reiterated the poor rust warranty.
I feel your pain, 2010 XLT with 70k miles and the passenger side has a huge whole. Had a leaky 3rd brake light which has been fixed, i do not know if this is what caused it.
