Default Programmer cause engine failure?

Im currently debating to buy a gryphon for my '04 4.6 screw. It has about 100k miles. Im just wondering if anyone has had/heard of anyone having engine issues that could have possibly been the result of adding a programmer? thanks!

i have not heard anything about a programmer killing an engine. just dont **** with the timing if you dont know how to adjust it and make sure you read all the instructions before screwing with the options. dont set the rev limiter too high and if you mess with shift points dont go over 6k shoot i think i heard dont go over 5700 rpms. just read up on it and ask around what everyone has there settings at. there are limits to the truck and im sure if you make the programmer do something the truck cannot handle youll **** something up good lol. otherwise have fun with it man. i have an EDGE evo and i love mine. i have my shift points adjusted, tire size, and my speedo put to 125 (think ive gotten there) it will add some power to the truck for sure!

Yea i dont plan on messing with any of that. Just would like the instant increase in power. Probably will only change my tire size. How many miles have you been driving with your programmer installed?

I run a gryphon on my 08 screw. Love it. So far keeping it on #2 = tow. It's great for both in town and highway.

I ordered a edge evo for my 04 f150 lariat 5.4 put it on it and it instantly made my truck run terrible and check engine light come on and the codes are camshaft position sensor over retard on bank 1 and 2 and on board diagnostic (obd) systerns readiness test not complete so I set it back to stock and took it off and it still idles bad and has no power what should I do??

Get a new engine. How long did you have the truck before putting a tuner on it?

If the program gets too aggressive with spark timing and/or mixture leaning it can hurt the engine.
A good tuner should know that you never push either too far.
I like my 5 star tuner.
But its not like i said to them build me a custom tune right on the edge of aelf destruction.
Basically it gives me a very modest hp bump and mpg go up slightly.
The biggest advantage is improved transmission shifting and removing the stupid speed governor.

Why would I get a new engine when this could be just a simple quick fix and not know it the motor runs fine just some sensor or the ecm is not right and I've had it alittle over 3 years and it never give a ounce of trouble!
