Programmer cause engine failure?
Once you install a tuner, it resets your ECU.
You probably had a lot issues before and it was taking your ECU a long time to figure it out.
Now that you plugged in the Tuner and your ECU reset, it's now recognizing all of your issues.

Why would you blame the Edge if it does the same damn thing with the stock tune ?
04 f150, hence why I said a new engine will be required. Your timing system is shot. Time to rebuild. It is after all a 2004 version 5.4. I will be looking for your other questions about rebuilding your engine.
I started using an Edge tuner on my truck when it had 124K on its odometer. I use the tow tune, and 87 octane fuel. No issues with it at all.
As others have pointed out, if the truck's engine has flaws, even minor, the tuner may aggravate them, as the tune you install will adjust the fuel and timing maps over the RPM range. This is not the tuners fault. No one can expect a tuner to fix problems in an engine; its intent is to increase performance, but the engine has to be in good shape.

Yeah that's what I have come to the conclusion to because I hooked a computer to it and drove it down the road and watched the motor and how it acted and I think I'm just gonna have to wind up spending 2 grand putting new new chain tensioners guides phasers and sylinoids and New VCT's and it should put it back right but then at that point I wonder if it would be OK to use the edge agian!
Your truck will fall apart from the inside out with a programmer. It's inevidible. Just playing bud, I've had my truck tuned for years, you really can't mess anything up unless you start messing with settings that you don't understand such as spark timing and fuel trim, stuff like that. I have an SCT tuner set to towing mode, with shift pressure increased, shift timing changed, tire size adjusted, etc...
Go with the SCT Livewire. I just got one and it is awesome! What sold me was the ability to add up to 10 custom tunes. My gas mileage went from 18 to 22mpg on the highway.
