Whats a good programmer for a 4.6? I had a superchips on my ranger which was not good imo. It made it idle funny when at high way speeds when you let off. I've seen a lot of people use sct and edge but for the most part all of those are 5.4s. Any input would be great

 

Works just as well for the 4.6 as the 5.4, just not quite as large a gains as the 5.4. Is your truck stock or modified?

I have an Edge on my 08 4.6 with k&n drop in filter and si/do flowmaster super 44. I'm happy with it, really wakes up the low end.

 

Ok. I have a few questions for ya. What are the gains fir the 4.6L? I know the 5.4 they say 35hp n i believe 50 pounds of torque. Also is there a few dif edge programmers and if so what one are you running?

 

I've heard that 35hp and 50lbs of torque isn't even right for the 5.4, just something to draw people in. But even if that isn't right, they are still worth it.

 

They claim the same 35hp and 50ftlbs but honestly could tell you since I've never dynoed it. There is definitely a noticeable change from stock though. I have the older Edge Evolution on mine and keep it on level 2 towing setting with a few of my own tweaks. I don't feel like there is any better bang for the buck upgrades for these motors. Money well spent in my opinion.

 

Ok thanks! I have a few more ques for ya if you don't mind. I just started doing some research on the edge so I don't know too much so don't mind if I ask some stupid questions. What's the dif between the newer edge and the one you have? Are they the same part number? Also do all the edge evos work for both the 5.4 and 4.6 and what do they plug right into the computer of the truck?

 

Oh one more question If I were to buy a used one why does everyone ask in the FS section if it was unlocked or not?
