Programmer for 4.6
Ok thanks! I have a few more ques for ya if you don't mind. I just started doing some research on the edge so I don't know too much so don't mind if I ask some stupid questions. What's the dif between the newer edge and the one you have? Are they the same part number? Also do all the edge evos work for both the 5.4 and 4.6 and what do they plug right into the computer of the truck?
You can send your Evo to PHP (PowerHungryPerformance) and they will add their custom calibrations and allow it to hold custom tunes written by them. The Evo is called a Gryphon once this step has been done.
All of them work for both the 4.6 and 5.4 as long as you're looking at 04-08 year model ones. They will plug directly in to the OBDII connector just under the steering wheel. There's a pod you can get to mount them above the air vent on the left of the steering wheel for viewing parameters while driving such as MPG, intake temp, oil temp as well as other things.
If a programmer is has not been set back to "stock" or "zero" before being taken out of a vehicle, it can NOT be used on another one without sending it in and paying a fee to have it unlocked for use on your own vehicle.
I have the Evo for my truck, I leave it on the Tow mode and let me tell you, it's a night and day difference in power. My butt dyno says so lol. I disconnected it when I went to the dealer for service and I really forgot how much of a turd my truck is without it.
There's the Edge Evolution, Evolution CS, and Evolution CTS. The CS has a colored screen and the CTS is a colored touch screen. However, if you plan on getting tunes custom written for your truck, stay with just the basic Evolution. The CT and CTS are currently having issues with that.
