Problems with 3" level
I put a 3" level on my 2007 xlt 2wd back in the spring. It's been riding nice and I haven't had any probably yet. However I was changing my brakes the other day and found that my UCA balljoint boots we rubbing on the coilover spring and were leaking grease. I don't expect that they will last very long out here in the dust without grease. So now I need a new set of UCAs, but I'm wondering what my options are for a real 3 or 4 inch lift for my 2wd. I'm looking for something that will correct the suspension geometry and prevent this from happening again.
You can get new coilovers...Fabtech sells them as do other companies. This would alleviate the rubbing. The coilovers can be cranked to 3". Skyjacker also has a 3" system as well i believe.
I dont think they make a true 4" lift for 2wd trucks. A 3" level is the only way to lift...no 3" suspension lift with new drop brackets and all that like the 6" kits come with. You might just want to try to drop to a 2.5" level and add 2" rear blocks.

As far as I know, they only make 4 in lifts for the 4wd trucks with the 04-08 models. If you wanted to ditch the leveling kit, the closest you can get to where you are now is a 6in lift (wich has the same stance as a 4x4 with a 4in lift). Other than that you can also get 8in and 12in kits.
Well crap. I dont think the coilovers will solve my issue without losing some lift. It looks like I will have to go with a 6" lift to get everything the way I want it. How stupid do you think a 6" lift will look with 33" tires?
Where'd you get your level? Some have "offsets" to prevent UCA-coil contact.
Since you have a 2wd, check out prerunner/desert racing companies for some other lift alternatives. Aftermarket uniball UCAs are available that are greasable/rebuildable.
An example from camburg (warning, they're expensive): http://www.camburg.com/store/susp-sy...ll-upper-arms/

Here, take a look at the Fabtech and Skyjacker sections....

I could do that fabtec basic kit for my lift, but those UCAs are crazy expensive...wonder how much stock ones are. I'm really hoping that my 33s will look ok with 6in of lift...I just bought my current set...they have about 2500 miles on them. I will have a look around and see if I can find a 2wd with 6in of lift and 33s... it may just be worth it to lose an inch of lift and get a lower leveling kit...hmm maybe the company bonus will be good this year..lol
