No, 70,000 miles and it's quiet as a church mouse. It tows a lot and gets 5w-20 oil every 3k miles.

2008 2wd 41000 miles and haven’t done anything except change fluids over the years. I bought it brand new. Only driven in summer. 2yrs ago switched from motorcraft 5w20 blend to motorcraft 5w30 full synthetic. The startup rattle has just surfaced in the last month. Sounds exactly like my 03 marauder did which was a failed passenger head tensioner. Parked it till I find the time to repair.

Bought mine used so I'm not sure if they've been changed before me but I have not replace them. 219,000 miles a runs great.

I'm in the process of changing timing components now, however, when I reinstalled the passenger side camshaft, it won't turn by hand. Any advise?

does anyone know why the right camshaft is so stiff after re-installation? Roller followers still out.

Neither installed dry or improperly torqued is my guess.

Or some cam towers are so worn the cam is sitting at an angle. Line honing isn’t an option due to lack of bearings, so a new head is. Either way you can’t put it back together as it is and expect it to last.

Spin several times and pull the caps. You should be able to see the offending journals by oil scraping. If not apply some white lithium grease, install caps, spin and remove caps.

Also make sure that you have the small thrust index disk at the front of the cam just behind the phaser (whatever that's actually called) inserted properly into the mated slot where it fits. It's possible to drop it in where it's not.
