Had both sides replaced and it feels like they may be going bad again. Trying to decide what to do - not sure if it's worth changing VCT solenoids again. Only major work was a Flex Plate around 130K and had rear end seals and bearings replaced recently.

I'm trying to plan for the eventual engine failure but it just keeps going. Been changing oil at 3000 miles since I was about 150K (5-7K miles before that). I suspect at this point it wouldn't be worth fixing this engine. Not sure replacement is in the cards given the cost of a new engine is going to be more than the truck is worth... but I haven't decided yet. I'm open to suggestions!
Well damn! You've done well. I can say I have an 07 STX special addition and I have 265K miles on it.. I've replaced the engine at 210K and I've been through 5 transmissions (don't go to Aamco) I traveled alot and they are in every town was the only reason I went there. I've replaced the spider gears rear axle bearings 2X, the cooling system, plug coils, knock sensors, all the rotors 2x and brake calipers, the altenator 3x and the fuel pump once. VCT solenoids, cam sensors and the starter 2x and the radio 1 time. I think that's it but you know what? It's paid for and those repairs add up but they beat the hell out of a 700.00 monthly payment to get a new one that's fully loaded like I have and I just like my truck. It's all new now anyway. Lol best of luck

Yes @ 99k Miles. 2018 Lariat Screw. Very expensive Dealer repair, They are so backed up with this repair that it took 4 months to get a repair slot.

No cam phaser replacement and 271k miles.

I am not original owner but i know the original owner. I think using the right oil and changing at the correct intervals while also checking oil level every so often has been the reason this vehicle has been trouble free. The only thing that has needed replaced was a fuel pump about a month ago.

DONT FORGET TO MAKE TWO SELECTIONS. Either Yes or No and the mileage range.

Just trying to gather empirical data.
Yes, engine replaced on 06 @ 108 mileage...

Originally voted "no" a couple years ago. I just did "the job" on my truck.

I also thought for a long time that because I only heard "a little" chain slap on startup that I didn't have an issue. That was far from what really was happening. Both chain tensioners blown out. Driver's side guide broke. Passenger side guides had been chewed up and spit into the oil pan. I'm very surprised that the oil pump was still able to get a suction with massive cloggage from the plastic guide pieces and slivers.

Yep, just did the timing job at 211,156 miles. Had the startup rattle, phaser knock, phaser oscillation off idle, but no lash adjuster/roller follower noise. The kit I bought didn't come with VCT solenoids, and the ones in the engine are made in China. Should have new Ford ones in it next week.

Sitting at 212,500ish miles now, and other than the passenger exhaust leak when I'm on the gas the engine is silent! Also getting just a tick under 19mpg since doing the timing job.
