Default P2106 pd Code

My truck starts running rough or even stalls out some times after the little in dash wrench light comes on, been getting this code P2106 (TAC system forced limited power) on my OBD II 3.0 reader afterwards. Can anyone tell me what the basic problem is from this (P2106) code or where I can find the information/explaination for it.... I have searched other forums several times but everyone who has had this simular problem never re-post up a thread on what the problem was after they get it repaired....

I'm prety sure your problem is either the throttle body or the TPS (throtle position sensor). What year model is your truck and what engine does it have.

It's a 2004 XLT 5.4 Triton 4x4

Turkey Hunter, I have just over 107,000. miles on it as well and I also need to flush the automatic trany and change the plugs & coil packs/boots as well. However, the dealer is going to change the plugs for me for under $300.00

You can't replace just the tps on 04and05 you will have to replace the hole throtle body. If you haven't already you need to ask your dealer if that $300 includes removing the broken plugs. The 5.4s have a reputation of the plugs breaking off. Sometimes up to all 8 of them break. Most dealers charge around 275 plus so much an hour to get the broken ones out so definitly check for a hidin charge. You can search 5.4 sparkplugs on this site and get a lot of info on the issue.

Good Info: Turkey Hunter,

The Ford dealer confirmed that on my 04 model I will have to replace the throttle body. I can get one from the dealer with a new TPS for only $189.00. However, if the ECU won't reset by disconnecting the battery, I will have to have it (ECU) re-flashed.... a $130.00 additional expense to reset the (computer) ECU.

As for the spark plugs I already know/understand the circumstances about them welding themself to the inside of the aluminum heads on the 5.4
The dealer also said that the $285.00 cost for changing the plugs will cover up to three broken plugs, after that they will need to be compensated for only their extra labor/time should any more than three break-off while changing all eight of them out.

I work for a large roof/waterproofing company and we buy all our (trucks) vehicles from this one dealer I have been talking to, just incase you where wondering about some of the great prices I had quoted above... they take care of us....

Thanks for your help!

my truck used to do that, cleaned the throttle body and put an exhaust system on and it has not done it since, so one of those cleared it up.

If it was a stock throttle body that was ported by BBK, then no, the sensor can not be changed seperately.
