Outdoor temp sensor problem...
I have an 06 xlt scab with the in dash temp display. It seems to read between 15 and 20 degrees f below actual temp. Anyone have any ideas on what causes this, or any solutions to the problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Probably need to replace your blinker fluid.
mine did the same thing, i took it to the car wash popped the hood and cleaned up underneath the bumper where my buddy told me it was and after that i havent had any problems.

I already topped off the blinker fluid, it just made the blinker noisy, lol. ~ Hmm... interesting. I guess I will give the washing a try. It doesn't seem to matter what the temperature is outside, it always reads off... did you have the same symptom?
The sensor is located on the vertical piece that the hood latch is attached to. Open the hood, look down from the latch, about halfway. It looks like a round post with a wiring connector connected to it.
I posted a picture of it a long time ago here. A search should find it. Search on temp probe.

Okay, so I located the sensor. It was clean... externally, so i took it apart. Be careful taking it apart, there are clips on both sides of the little guy. I simply cleaned the plug and connections with electrical contact cleaner, then put some dielectric grease in the female part of the connection. I made sure to push up on the wires when clipping it back together. Waa Laa! It works as it should. It must have been a bad connection (low resistance), resulting in a bad reading on the display... Thanks guys, for your help. Hopefully this can be helpful to someone else.

I can certainly understand why a good cleaning of the contacts will get it back to working condition, as it's right behind the grill, where all kinds of nasty weather can get to it, not to mention dirt, rocks, and rain/sleet/snow....
where we are you have to clean all the damn bugs off of it too! i should try and did up the picture of my radiator when it was completely covered by grasshoppers. it was so plugged it started to get the engine warm...yucky....
