Default Mufflers

Was wondering if anyone knows of a quiet muffler that i can put on my "2005 F150 with a 5.4 engine?

I have cat back dual exhaust - I have a magna flo muffler on now and previous had an MBRP muffler on. I found both mufflers with too much drone at highway cruising speed.

I would like to keep my dual tail pipes and I need a muffler that is quiet and no drone. My inlet is 3", my outlet is 2 1/2"

I realize this is the most usual question as most people like the noise but I am getting too old to enjoy the noise.

I recently installed a Dynomax Super Turbo on my '05 with the 5.4 and I am quite happy with it. I too wanted something quiet. This muffler is almost as quiet as stock on my truck it just has a deeper tone and it only wakes up when you put a heavy foot into it or for those first minutes when you start it up on a cold day. On the highway you can hear only a very slight drone, but it is the least drone out of any aftermarket high flow muffler I have heard in my experience, especially on the long highway trips.

Ditch the duals and go with a SI\SO setup...pretty much any mufflers, other than stockers are going to drone terribly at highway speeds with a dual setup. Your not gaining anything power wise with duals unless you have motor work done....just more excessive noise.

I have a 3" catback with a SI\SO, stock location exit magnaflow on my 05...zero highway drone but still has a nice, deep rumble to it when you romp on it. Dont even hear it on the highway unless you put your foot into it. Going with a universal magnaflow muffler, you can get a longer or shorter one, depending on how loud you want it.

I suggest calling around to your local exhaust shops and tell them what your trying to accomplish. One of your better shops will be able to give you exactly what your after vs just a bolt on kit...i paid less than 300 dollars out the door for 3" stainless tube, the magnaflow, chrome tip and install(custom install...all mandrel bent tube and welded in place).

I just did my own custom exhaust on my 06 5.4 screw today. I used stock 2.5 piping, a flowmaster super 44 si/so and had it exit to a magnaflow 3.5 inch tip. It is really nice, when i put my foot on it or have my windows down there is a really sublte but nice tone, when i was crusing on the freeway i couldn't tell i had done it, to me on my daily driver (which is my truck) quiet is key and this setup is just perfect
