OK.....Here is how it works. Getting an intake ups the airflow but without a custom tune the rig is still programmed to work with the factory stuff. So really you are just leaning out the mix by getting more air but the same amount of fuel. The Gryphon is a tuner that is programmed to meet the specs of your rig. You tell Bill what you have and what you are looking to gain and he writes tunes for your truck.

Bill is the guy who runs PHP. He had a huge hand in the programming of the Edge Evolution for the 04-08 F-150's which is what the Gryphon programmer is based on. Bill decided to take the knowledge he has and open his own place. It is questionable if the Gryphon is the best but it is 1 of the top 3 in reputable custom tuners. The other 2 guys Troyer, and VMP use the SCT X-Cal as their tuning medium. The difference is the Gryphon also doubles as a nice set of guages. You can watch everything from the spark advance, fuel rail pressure, trans temp and 10-15 other engine parameters. The X-Cal is simply a programmer. You plug it in load the tune and then put it away. And yes you would tell Bill of any mods you have. There is a "worksheet" to fill out when you order a Gryphon.
