Default MPG help!!!

I have an 04 fX4 with s steel replacment front bumper with 20 inch rim and 34 inch terra grapplers.... my MPG aint hurtin too bad but its not where i want it. My wish list for this truck is pretty long including exhaust, tuner, sound system ect.. i was wondering what mods i could do to increase MPG without blowing the bank.. any suggestions? my ultimate goal is just ditching this truck for an ecoboost but being in college that aint in the cards right now. so i need all the help i can get..

Thanks for the input. I have the Gotts mod... does that even compare to a cold air intake? Exhaust and tuner is already on my wish list... adding the throttle body spacer now.

Yes the Gotts mod is comparable to a CAI. Not quite the gains of a full CAI at WOT, but still decent gains for the price. Exhaust isn't going to net many mpgs no matter what. I'd say if you're going to sell the truck in the next few years either just do a muffler swap to a straight through muffler or do nothing at all. A programmer is also hit or miss on mpg gains. Custom tunes would give you the best chance at gains and will correct the tire size and shifting so Gryphon, SCT, and Diablo are the ones you should lean towards. Other than that do maintenance and be conscious of your driving habits. You're not going to turn a larger tire truck into a prius, but you can do those things to help get what you can.

Tuner with custom tunes.
The tuner would allow you to adjust for your tire size.
Gotts mod is cheap and works for me.
Gotts mod cost me about $5. But don't expect great gains.
The amount of money spent vs. doing regular maintenance.
The spacer is a paper weight.
Tons of threads about modding for mpg.
Best way to maximize mpg is to keep your foot out of it.
