I don't know of one thing you do to help your mpg other than trading it. You will never recoup the money you spend to gain mpg's unless your doing a ton of driving.

The 5.4 has a variable length manifold which would negate the swirling effect when the cmcc operates.
I just took mine off and sold it to another sucker. Runs better in my opinion.
If you want to reduce intake turbulence, sand out the casting roughness in the throttle body. Wd40 and some 220 grit takes care of it. It's just like polishing your intake runners
