I have a kn on my 07 5.4. To be honest it sounds fricken awesome, but I don't think it really helps mpg. I have custom tunes as well that's where you see the biggest gain.

Just slapping exhaust and cai on, you're only going to see minimal gains. You'll mostly just get the nice sounds from them. Once you get customs to go with the mods, that's when you'll see them at their true potential gains.

Are you worried about running lean, or was that really fixed in the 06 and later models?

Diablosport predator u7151 has a k&n cai canned tune. That's what I'm going to go with. I was going with an edge EVO until I found out about the lean issues...

I've never dealt with the Edge or Gryphon before, but I love my SCT Livewire. Been using SCT products on my Mustangs, and just as happy with it on my Truck now. Just another option for you to look into.

Thanks! Does that have the custom ability that Edge has?

Yes it does. Comes with canned tunes and is definitely best used with custom tunes. I used the SCT X3 tuner on two of my Mustangs and loved them, and with the truck I got the more expensive SCT LiveWire tuner. Here's the website if you'd like to look at them:

http://www.sctflash.com/showallproducts.php

A good way to go about picking a tuner would be to learn who you want to do your custom tune for your truck, and then see which products they use.

And which company is good now? My truck is stock (for now) so canned tunes will be good for me. But as I add a level, CAI, exhaust, which ones are better for that?

I haven't gone with a custom tune for my truck yet, so I'm really only familiar with who I like for my Mustangs. But just an fyi, I think the Edge Programmer is cheaper than the SCT products price wise if that matters at all.

As far as which one is better, that's all a matter of opinion. People are usually gonna say the brand their loyal to is better. I've heard good things about PHP and their tunes for the Edge, but I'll probably go with Troyer Perfomance when I'm ready for a custom tune. I don't think you can go wrong with either of these options. Hopefully someone will give their two cents who's actually dealt with one of these two shops.

Well said in my opinion......... I know that when I was shopping around(which I did for a good solid year before deciding on one). It got to be pretty damn confusing, basically having to choose between 3 or 4 and they were ALL getting great reviews and feedback. And of course they were all having issues here and there and that is to be expected. What Fordjunky said is about the best answer you can get. Whichever one you choose of the bigger names, I highly doubt you will be disapointed with whoever you choose. Personally I settled on PHP and am now waiting on my custom tunes. Good luck.......
