What is canned tunes? And how do you determine if your truck needs a custom tune?

The canned tunes will run fine with a non-modded engine, cause the can tunes are meant for a stock truck. You'll want to eventually invest into custom tunes when you start modding the engine and such with parts like exhaust and cai, because they are goin to lean out the truck and etc.

Edit: and can tunes are the preset tunes that come with tuners.

So I buy the tuner, then ask a company (power hungry performance) to write new tunes? Is that an easy process?

Pretty much. But I would wait to buy custom tunes until you get couple mods on your truck, cause when they write up a tune for you you tell em everything you have so they make a perfect matching tune for you. And be pointless to get tune if you have nothing or lil now on the truck then have to buy ankther tune after adding a few things to your truck. Hope that makes sense

Not enough to make me buy a custom tune. I'm bout to get my exhaust Installed in the next week and I'm gonna wait til I atleast have exhaust, cai, fresh plugs and maybe some other lil things before I get a custom tune. Otherwise in my opinion its a waste of 60$. Unless exhaust and cai is all youre planning then go for tune after those two. Otherwise I say wait just a lil bit.

What year is your 150? And miles? I just got new plugs, and if I had 1K to burn I would get the programmer, CAI and a new exhaust. What kinda exhaust are you getting and how does it sound?
