KN CAI=programmer?
So I should actually wait and buy the tuner and the CAI at the same time? That seems to be the general consensus. In addition, did your CAI give you any more mpg?
The closed box is to keep as much of the engine bay heat away from the filter as possible. I believe they have a tube dipping through the wall into the fenderwell pulling in fresh, usually cooler air. Won't see much of a difference really with the box or without. But they look cool.
I didn't recognize but POSSIBLY .3 mpg gain when I added the kn.. But that could be bc I like to hear it whistling, and gulping air so I can't keep off the gas. Lol. But here's the thing. Whenever you get custom tunes you have to tell them EVERYTHING about your truck. So if you're for sure getting a cai, then you need to get it first or at the same time so you can let them know what all you have. Bc if you tell them you have a cai then you won't be able to run the custom tunes until you have it anyways.
Yea, I understand that completely. But if I could go back, I probably would've went with volant. If I'm correct they are the ones with the closed off box that goes into the fender hole. I got the "best" which really was just the most expensive kn I could bc I had a major discount through a buddy of mine. But after looking online kn don't have a box, all they have is a little shield. I hate that bc it needs to be sucking cold air, and it's kinda hard to get that under the hood with just a heat shield.. This is kn's "box" right here.
