Keys for the tailgate etc?
There are two key slots on the rear of the truck and both do not work with the keys I have. One is the tailgate and the other is in the bumper. What is the second one for? I am planning to get the tailgate re-keyed as soon as I find a locksmith... but I wasn't sure if it was worth bothering with the other one. It is just to the right of the plate.
when i purchased my truck originally, i had the dealer locate the door keypad combination for me. They also had to re-key my entire vehicle as shortly after purchasing some problems started occuring with the ignition switch lock cylinder. Dearler replaced with two keys and changed the tailgate, spare key, door cylinder and ignition cylinder locks.
you can get a new tailgate lock keyed to the ignition and door key, they 64 dollar question is why the keys don't match.
pop the tailgate lock out, and have the locksmith make a key for it not a PATS key, a regular 2 dollar key with 8 dollars in locksmithing, and see if that opens the spare tire lock.
Then have him rekey the tailgate and spare tire cylinders to the door/ignition key

Hi Guys,
Any locksmith will tell you ..... Never use oil in the keyslot of a lock!!
The oil just attrachs dust and crap and and eventually turns into a sticky goo that gums up the lock.
Powdered graphite or lubes especially for locks (usually graphite powder in a solvent type liguid) is the thing to use.
I know someone is gonna reply that they have used wd-40 for years............ but I bet that they have to use it every few months to keep the lock working.
my 2 cents.........
