Keys for the tailgate etc?
Hi Guys,
Any locksmith will tell you ..... Never use oil in the keyslot of a lock!!
The oil just attrachs dust and crap and and eventually turns into a sticky goo that gums up the lock.
Powdered graphite or lubes especially for locks (usually graphite powder in a solvent type liguid) is the thing to use.
I know someone is gonna reply that they have used wd-40 for years............ but I bet that they have to use it every few months to keep the lock working.
my 2 cents.........

Wd40 is not oil, and definately not a lubricant. It makes a great cleaner an penatrant. However it does eventually evaporate...hate the stuff for anything other then cleaning metal. A little bit to loosen a corroded key cylinder can work wonders, and be sure to wipe up the excess..off the key as well.
So I officially disagree...I also work on locks quite a bit...and hate to see oil where it doesn't belong.
