Default iPad Mini Headunit

I am in the process of putting an iPad mini in place of my Headunit and was just curious if anyone else had done it? Was wondering how you wired the charger for it to constantly recieve power while the truck is on, etc. Thanks!

Since I don't have steering wheel controls in my 05, like a member on the other link posted I removed the ash tray and put a single din headunit in there. The iPad is connected to the headunit via usb.

I'm just curious what's your guys intention with the iPads, I've seen them in many vehicles just never understood why, but I like the idea of the radio where the cupholder goes so you don't lose the radio, that's smart.

I also do not have steering wheel controls. But my truck got broken into and the $500 Headunit was stolen and I had an iPad mini laying around and thought it would look cool, be able to use navigation, all my music, etc. It's not something you see everyday and that's what I like

I like how big the screen is, I have all of my music on there, and navigation. I could have bought a headunit with navigation, but I had the iPad laying around and liked the idea of using it instead.

Sweet setup. I have an 05 as well and have considered this option but wasn't sure how to mount a radio underneath. What's stopping me is my rear view camera running through my double din radio. Have you seen anyone use an iPad or iPad mini for their rear camera output feed? I don't even know how that would be wired.

I'm also not sure how to wire that. I have my back up camera running to my Edge CTS.
