I'm sure I read at least two posts about people counter-flashing to show those light-flashers what's what. I could go back and re-read the thread but I'm too damn lazy. If you REALLY don't believe me I can do it.

Mazda. Factory Zenons.
My Ford has a set of DOT-approved halogen projectors made by Sonar that were installed by the PO. They're a little bling for my tastes, but I'll probably keep them since they're better than the stock reflectors.

Is it me or have we had a sudden influx of absolute children on this site again?

Doubt it. If it was factory quality, maybe. But those cheap chinese kits are not going to give you quite that much output, probably closer to 2500L. Especially since they are often higher kelvin then advertised and shift after a few hours of use to a higher kelvin anyways.

55W halogen is around 1100 lumens I believe.

"Retro" refers to retrofit. They're roughly the same size and shape as the factory halogen capsule they replace. The problem is that Xenon arc-lamps (HIDs, Xenons, same thing) make a source of light that is a different shape from the factory halogen bulb.

This is my go-to article for talking people out of HID kits:

You are thinking of plug-in HID bulbs. This is just slapping some HID bulbs into the factory reflector. The HID bulb is arc shaped unlike the thin straight filament of the factory halogen, so the reflector scatters light everywhere with the arc'd HID bulb (hence the glare).

A proper retro-fit is when you install specific HID projectors into the factory housing to properly implement and project the beam of the HID arc using an internal cutoff shield and a glass lens. You can have it professionally done or you can tackle the project yourself if you are somewhat handy with basic tools and such. I have a few pics in my gallery of the headlight retro-fit that I built for my truck.

Still double the factory bulbs. Sounds good to me!

I mean..... My mom is 53...... and she's pretty much completely given up on driving at night due to glare....

I don't have HID's...... I don't need HID's........... but HID's do not bother me.....

Hell, I'm used to seeing train lights come at me......
