Because i know the kind of people that run HID's like that are dicks that will flip on their $3k's worth of offroad lights just to laugh with their redneck friends if i flashed my high beams at them.

I'm amazed at how quickly the HIDs-on-the-cheap crowd resort to dick-waving, with attitudes along the lines of "I don't care if you're blinded by my ****ty pinkish Chinese HID drop-ins, and if you flash me IMMA GONNA SHOW YOU SON - HOPE YOU LIKE BEIN' BLIND AND DRIVIN' INTO TREES... RAWRARGHARGHARGHARGH".
Jesus. Are you twelve?

The proper projectors are FAR superior to the factory lighting and even further superior to the blue glaring drop-in kits that some of you have invested in. I've use it all: Silverstars, PnP HID, and Retro-Fit. There is simply no comparison: the retro-fit performs 100x better than the silly drop-ins, looks a ton better (no ricer glare, razor sharp cutoff), and is far safer. Don't knock it until you've tried it; once you drive behind some high quality projectors that completely illuminate 5 lanes wide on the freeway, you will never go back..

This wasn't what I was saying. I am referring to the projector lenses that are on ebay, amazon, anywhere for that matter. Yes, they are obviously the ideal solution to glare from stock. But, you didn't comprehend the REASON for my post. I was offering a solution for anyone that is on a budget, but still wants HID's. So what if the HID's are in the stock housing? Just because your opinion (and financial priorities) are not in the same place as other people's doesn't mean we can all afford $300+ fancy housings. Perhaps I'm perfectly content with my stockers.

Both solutions are correct, based on individual circumstances and my post was addressing just that.

And on the "inferior" comment I made, I was talking about the housings themselves being poorly made, cheap materials... They always are unless you buy a reputable brand. I do agree that projectors are ideal, don't get me wrong, but it's that cost that people run from. If I want HID's and can buy them for $50, I may choose not to use "proper" housings for a while. It's not a big deal, its been discussed too much. We all get it, we all understand that HID's look better, perform better, are safer etc... In projector housings. Just stop beating the topic.

What if they're naive and don't realize they're blinding ppl? I have had my truck, with 6000k, come at me and drive behind me and wasn't bothered by them. I take that, and the fact I don't get flashed, as evidence that my lights aren't bothering anyone. If I was flashed even once a week, I'd do something different. As it is, I haven't been flashed once in over 3 months.

I also flash ppl who have high beams on, hids or not, they dim them quick!

I've only been flashed once by someone so far and this was from us meeting at the top of a hill. I have my headlights aimed moderately down with great results. Haters gone hate.

Got any pics of your output against a wall or pics facing your truck?

I see what you are saying, makes sense. But here is the issue: being on a budget and wanting superior HID lightning don't necessarily go hand-in-hand. You personally might be content with the HID in your factory housing, many are. But those people driving toward you really don't appreciate it (especially in rain folks, glare gets BAD). You can aim them way down and you still will have glare, and by aiming them way down you are just reducing your line of sight and contradicting the whole point of investing in better lighting anyways, right?

If you are on a budget and want superior lighting, just save up for a bit longer and do a retro-fit. I see a lot of people here saying they want budget HIDs but somehow can afford other $500+ mods for their truck. To me that is just a sign of either laziness or being uneducated on the topic. I know not everyone will be convinced, and as we can some people simply just don't care. But at the very least, do some research on the topic (even outside of f150 forums) and learn a little about the design and complexity of HID systems and their uses.

I'm a truck driver also. That seems like a pretty poor attitude for someone who makes their living on the road.

Don't make my living on the road. I just drive them for fun here and there.

It's all that needs to be said because it's true. Get over it.

Yep, after 20 years in the military, including time as an RTO for an infantry unit and fun with Combat Engineers, yep, I'm really a big puss.

Is it me or have we had a sudden influx of absolute children on this site again?
