What brand bulb and ballast, and why 8000k?

There is less lumen output the higher color temp. For example, if you were to compare an 8000k to 4300k, you will have 20% less output on the 8000k over the 4300k. Which halogen bulb is that you are comparing against?

That much of a difference on the halogen vs. HID would have me comparing parts and quality of parts. The other thing that I see is the shields appear to be crooked on the outside edges. How did you wire the ballasts in? What kit did you use?

 

8000K because I like the look. DDM Tuning kit. Its basically plug and play. A friend of mine has the same setup in his 06 and his are 20x brighter. I will perform the "direct battery test" tomorrow or Monday.

 

Bulbs are seated flat? I'd try to ground the ballast better. Did it come with a relay kit to run it off the batter at all?

Nope, hooked the ballast directly to the battery and no change in performance. I'm waiting on a reply from DDMtuning.

 

Both ballasts do the same thing? These are not a hi/lo bulb, are they?

 

I was told from my trouble shooting that the bulbs are bad. DDMTuning is sending me a new set today.
