Default GOTTS mod!

So i was about to do the GOTTS mod when my friend pointed out a good idea, why not put a new air filter on the end instead?
GOTTS mod!-gotts-mod.jpg

I removed the other stock air filter so i wouldnt have 2. I'm just wondering if this isnt such a good idea and if not...why?

But just thought id show everyone possibly a new twist on the mod? $40

1. Aren't you getting "unfiltered" air from your fender well since you removed the filter from the stock position?

2. Any air that is filtered will be hot air from the engine compartment.

Or am I missing something?

hot air will be the problem of that.... most cold air configurations have a cover to isolate the filter from the engine compartment to avoid that problem, like this:

The gotts mod isn't using unfiltered air because you keep the stock airbox and can use an aftermarket filter. The main point of it is to run a bigger piece of tubing/pipe to open up the airflow instead of the way the stock tapers into the fender well.

Ya i removed the actual filter and its not meant to be a CAI. I figured that it would allow ore air flow just like the gotts mod but also give it a better look to it. but my friend said the only problem he could think of would be having both filters on so i took off the original filter... so far it seems to be doing fine

i dont think this is a good idea. i think you would be better off just leaving it stock. without the filter in the factory spot i hope it seals up real well in there or you could be compromised and allowing things to be sucked up in the intake....

The GOTTS mod only removes the stock tapered silencer boot from before the air box and replaces it with a larger diameter pipe to remove a restriction. No extra filters. The open in the engine compartment setup you have there is way worse then the stock setup. Not only are you sucking hot air, you have a large amount of filter exposed ready to get wet or clogged. Put the stock air box on and do the mod properly.

also check the silencer box... it have small holes.... you can suck anything from this holes.... if you prefer to left this filter on, cover those holes in the silencer. they are under the silencer. also, be sure that the filter you installed is really tight.
