Default Gears vs Edge programmer

Just did 3in hellbentsteel level and 2in block in rear with 295/70R18 Nitto Trail Grapplers (no rub what so ever) and its now a little bit "boggy" during the acceleration process (obviously due to the oversized tires....) so what would be the smarter decision to purchase, gears or edge. I have factory 3:73s already and I'm clocked in at 87k on odometer.

Cost is around 400$...mpg gain is not much from what I've heard...but it really brings the truck to life and frees up some of the ponies, or at least feels that way!

i just installed the edge evolution on my 06 f150 and the hp gain is dependent upon which tune you have it set to. there are three seperate tunes, the first will just affect ur transmission and will give no hp gain, the level 2/towing tune gives a gain of between 7-14 hp and i think 1 or 2 miles per gallon, and the level 3/performance tune will give about 25-35 hp but it recommended you run 91 octane. i have mine set on the level 2 tune and have seen a increase in accelleration and overall response in the truck. the best place to buy is amazon you can pick it up there for about $330.

go with teh programmer bud. the programmer can give you a good amount of HP depending on how its tuned and what gas youre running. with gears youre going to spend $250-$350 per set, one for the front and one for the rear. you gotta do both. plus installation. the programmer you might get for around $350.

Ok I appreicate it, I always run the 91 octane my grandpa taught me that. So would the tune 3 be better since I do run 91 everytime and have since I bought it.

Programmer first as it will be way cheaper. 350 compared to 1500 for gears and install. Once your shift points are back in line from the programmer, u may decide that the stock gears are okay. It makes a big difference, with the tire size being correct with the way the truck shifts. Even with my old 33s it made a big difference. I have 315/70/17 (34.5) and 3.55s, and its not too bad with my programmer.

If you plan on doing custom tunes then you might want to look into purchasing the programmer from PHP because custom tunes are 30 a piece if you get your tuner from them vs 60 a piece if you get your tuner from somebody else.

I'm waiting on custom tunes for a Edge CS and they are having some problems with Edge but hoping it's all worked out soon.

Either way I'd definitely go with the programmer first because you would have to re tune your truck anyway if you get gears I would think... not sure though... good luck and sharp truck man

If you don't go with custom tunes and just get an Edge you can play with it to see what suits you best as far as power and mpg. I use 91 also and found that the tow setting (2) feels better, probably because of the hills around here. I like the display so that you can monitor different systems, MPG improves when you have AMPG displayed and helps keep your foot out of it, lol. This is where I got mine but I don't know if they would have the Evolution since it is the old style, they have gone to the CS CTS styles. They show the EVO for $319.36 and includes shipping, that is cheaper than I got mine.

What kind of grill guard is that? How do you like it? Is it heavy duty and where did you get it $$$?
