Fuel pump problem
HEy all,
Recently my wife filled up the truck and took the kids to a restaurant. I (of course) was out of town.
When she went to leave the restaurant the truck would start and run for a second and die. She did this several times, until the truck no longer started... and she almost killed the battery. /slaps forehead
Anyway, my first thought was the fuel pump. I checked the fuses, and the relay. All seem good. I checked the fuel cutoff and it was not tripped. So yesterday I dropped the tank and replaced the fuel pump.
The hardest part was getting the fuel OUT of the tank (30 gals as it was just filled up) and the STUPID gas filler tube hose clamp on my truck was in a HORRIBLE spot. I could have removed the bed and completed the job much, much faster. For what it's worth, you can not siphon gas from our trucks through the gas filler tube. There is a "sleeve" (for lack of better term) that looks like a pop can that has a 1/8 inch opening instead of being all the way open that blocks the filler tube. I like it!
When you put the key in the ignition and turn it to on the fuel pump does NOT kick on and pressurize the system. Same issue as before. I am NOT dropping the tank again... the dealer can have at it.
Wondered if anyone has any other suggestions on this?

it under the firewall on the passenger side, it tells in the manual how to reset "fuel pump shut-off switch" in my 07 manual it's on page 275. my dealer underline it, they have had trucks towed in because of it being tripped, lol
Unfortunately, dropping the tank and putting in a salvage fuel pump did not fix the problem.
Truck is now at the dealership and I am waiting at home with a jar of Vasoline for the bill.

I'd also check this switch...a few folks over-ride them, but I'd not recommend this. Reset it; if it happens again, replace it.
i posted this is another thread, but here is where it's located. just put down on the red plunger and it resets itself.

No worries.
I had the truck towed to the dealership. Ends up there is an electrical control box that "controls all of the timers" in the vehicle. There was power to the box, no power from the box. They said it controls the dimmer lights, the fuel pump, basically anything that runs off a timer. $600 including the tow to the shop.
