NOPE, all front axles are "open" differentials from the factory. Limited slip isn't even an option, FX4 or not, but they can be added aftermarket.

LS is standard in the rear axle on the FX4, LS is not offered by Ford in the front axle. I have the LS rear also and a few times when in 4low I have kicked up sand at the beach with all four. I cant explain it. Anyone have any ideas?

There are a couple circumstances where an open differential will put power to both wheels. It only happens when both wheels have EXACTLY the same traction on a given surface, OR if both wheels are off the ground. I've done it too, but very rare.

Neggy, The front end is just a 8.8" Ford axle. Eaton, Auburn, make limited slips for it, and you can even get detroit lockers, truetracs, and E-lockers for it.

make sure if you get you diff for a 28 spline 8.8 not a 31 spline. A friend of mine gave me a LSD for a 28 spline 8.8 so when i put my 4.10s in it im just gonna throw it in there

are the heavy payload trucks using the same front axle? I know the rear end is a 10.25 gearset, I've never researched what the front is

TATTERED is right. I should've mentioned that. The 31 spline diffs are for rear applications, and 28's are for the front. And YES, the 7700GVW F150 and light duty F250 trucks use the same front axle.
