Default Flowmasters and modifications

I have a 07 f150 with the 4.6 2v motor and am wanting to increase the power it has cause it sucks. I've been told to get a cold air intake with a throttle body spacer and I've got that ordered but does anyone know how much power that would actually give me? Would it help spin the tires at all? I also want flow masters. What series would sound best with my motor. I'm wanting a deep kinda loud smooth rumble. Also I would like to get a chip. Any suggestions? If y'all have any other ideas of mods for increase of power I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a bunch guys

I have the 4.6L as well. It's not that the truck lacks power, it's just geared way too damn high...

I have an S&B CAI, which gave a noticeable increase in throttle response. I paired that with the 40 Series Flowmaster exhaust system. These two sound GREAT together! I do not have a chip, so I can't expand on that one... lol

I also regeared to 4.56 (I have 7.5" of lift on 35's). Regearing definitely upped the torque. I can trip the tires... Look into a set of different gears, maybe the 4.10 depending on your tire size.

And as far as throttle body spacers, I think they are a waste of time and money... but that's just my opinion. I don't think I've heard any positive things about them, and they produce no real power difference.

Get gears and a tune, and you'll be wishing you budgeted more for tire replacement.

A good tune will get the tires to chirp a bit (depending on stock gearing), and really wakes up the sleepy 4.6. Look around the forums for some good tuner suggestions.

The stock air box, with the silencer removed, and a good filter in it will flow excellent. It's not loud, but very adequate. I never have, and never will believe that a throttle body spacer is beneficial to a fuel injected vehicle (non-tbi). Just sayin.

I also have they sleepy 4.6. I have 285/70/17 tires which some say is the same as 33 12.50s, but mine measured from the blacktop to the top of the tire is 32 inches, with that tire size and 3.55 gearing its like kryponite to superman. Ive been thinking about getting some exaust work done and also getting a intake. I would just cut the silencers off but I don't want to cut up my factory intake. As soon as I get some money freeed up I'm going to get me an edge or a sct with custom tunes to replace my hypertech. IMO get the exaust and the intake. Then get a tuner with some custom tunes.

I have a 07 SuperCrew with a 4.6L. So far I got rid of that 55 gallon muffler for put on and split the exhaust out to true duals(good use of 250$). I used two turbo tubes instead of flowmasters which gives it a good bit of grumble but not crazy loud. I also did the Gott's mod on the air intake. Between those two it made a noticeable difference. I've got a programmer from PHP on order so when it gets here I can let ya know about that. I'm not really the tire smoking type but I can tell you after those two mods I can haul wood(full bed of logs), and tow much easier. I do more hunting and fishing so I notice the power difference but I don't really shoot for fast speed on the road.

Oh and a side note on my Ford the factory shocks were crap, replace those if you plan to tow/haul, that itself made a world of difference.

Order of mods should be programmer, exhaust, and then custom tunes and intake at the same time. This will yield about 20-25hp.
Throttle body spacers do nothing on a FI engine. It just gives off a whistling noise.

-Flowmaster and smooth don't really mix. A chambered muffler in general will have a choppy sound compared to a straight through muffler. If you're stuck on the Flowmaster sound go with the super 10. Do a search on youtube and listen to Borla, Dynomax bullets, or magnapacks.

-For the intake, you can go with aftermarket, but a cheaper and effective alternative is the Gotts mod. If you go aftermarket, get a dry filter as its filtration efficiency is better than an oiled filter.

-You want a programmer not a "chip". Here's a good intro into the world of tuning:

If you want more beyond these mods, look into gears and efans.

I got a cold air intake already an a tbs before anyone said anything about the tbs not working lol but it won't hurt anything right? And would it hurt anything if I do put the cold air intake in before I get a programer? And then later on program it? If I get a programer would i be able to do what a dealership can do to the PCM? If so what would the best programer in your opinion be?

Ok not great. For the intake you'll need a custom programmer. You can install it before the programmer since you have the 4.6L. The top custom programmers are the SCT x3 or the Gryphon CS/CTS.
