Ok cool. I've shut my tailgate a lot by kicking it up with my knee and don't want any resistance that would stop me from doing that.

 

Just put one of these on today...picked it up at O'reillys for 29 bucks. Works pretty good
so far ...I put it on with the shock first and then the cable....as recommended by others. It works good, no binding, and I did not even use the foam piece that came with it. It still falls at normal speed for the first few inches and then the shock catches....pretty cool mod for the price.

 

I've had mine on for almost a year and it works great. (I took the little rubber thing off after the first couple of months).

 

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead but...how do you all still like it?

Also, what has to be done to the tailgate itself to mount it?
